Student Property company "Luxury Student Homes" has come under fire following a damning report by the Liverpool Echo regarding the state of some of their rental properties.

The company rents out nearly 100 student properties in the city and their letting agents claim to have seen all sorts of horrors while managing the digs, begging the question, what exactly is "Luxury" about their properties?

From trashed kitchens to rodents in the toilet (yes, seriously) their properties have come under increased scrutiny.

The Echo asked their letting agents to dish the dirt on some of the situations they have faced and the company were keen to lay the blame firmly on their "nightmarish student tenants".
Rachel Penketh, the lettings administrator for Luxury Student Homes, said some of their more frustrating tenants leave staff “feeling like pulling their hair out”.
She said: ”Every now and then – in the midst of the disasters, leaks and the occasional trashing of a property – we do catch a glimpse of the strange and bizarre.”

Perhaps the weirdest problem to land on the desks of the agents was an unwelcome extra housemate living in the bathroom at one of the properties...
Rachel said: “Every now and then we’ll get tenants reporting issues with pests - I think most students will be the first to admit that they don’t always keep the properties in a pristine condition.
“We received an email from a tenant to report that they’d had an unexpected visitor in the most unlikely of places. They’d had a few issues with mice beforehand, so we just expected it to be the usual".
“But we were wrong - somehow, a squirrel had managed to find its way into their house and was found in the toilet. I think this one left everyone a little speechless – we’d never heard anything quite like it.”

As well as opperating properties that are rodent infested "every now and then", the company claim that students have had a tendency to trash their houses and also suggest their students are not completely honest about what happened.

Rachel said: “More often than not, our tenants will break things and just own up to it. On the rare occasion, they make up the most ludicrous excuses – which aren’t necessarily funny at the time, but they do give us a laugh in the office eventually.

“We once received a call from one of our tenancies, letting us know that every single kitchen cabinet on one of their walls had just fallen down.

"When we asked them how it had happened, they told us that they were just putting a pumpkin on top of the kitchen cabinet for their Halloween party. Our maintenance team visited before they had a chance to cover up the evidence of what really happened - they’d set up a sound system on top of their kitchen cabinets, causing the entire row of cabinets to come crashing down.”

Antona Student Properties was alarmed to read this report and Luxury Student Homes justifications for their houses falling apart, allegedly due to soundwaves, and also them suggesting that it is normal for tenants to regularly have issues with rodents. This is NOT the norm! View our properties today and see what a real Luxury Student Home looks like, ALWAYS well built and ALWAYS rodent free!!
