Chinese New Year will be marked with three days of celebrations in Liverpool this month.

The event will include a special Chinese New Year lumiere event with projections in China Town, telling the ancient myth of Jingwei and the Ocean.

Jingwei and the Ocean tells the story of the an emperor’s daughter who, after perishing at sea, transformed into a bird and endeavoured to fill the ocean with twigs and stones to prevent anyone else from meeting the same fate.

There will also be a specially-created augmented reality trail, as well as the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations with street performances, family workshops, art installations, parades and the popular Chinese market.

This year’s celebrations take place from 7.30pm to 8.30pm on January 27 and 28, and 5pm to 6pm on January 29.

Antona Student Properties can highly recommend the oriental themed bar, Chamber 36, which cna be found opposite the opulent China Town Gate. This is as a great place for students to hang out in Liverpool throughout the year but especially during this special time. Perhaps we wills ee you in there to welcome the year of the Rooster!
