A Liverpool student has won the chance to represent the country in a global skills competition in Abu Dhabi.
Plastering student Jack Wilson won bronze in a the UK finals of a World Skills competition and could now be selected to represent the UK Worldwide.
The UK final took place at the Skills Show held at the Birmingham NEC. Each student is given a challenge which they can part prepare for before the event. Jack had to complete a series of plastering tasks showing a range of techniques.
Despite being only early on in his plastering apprenticeship, Jack beat off competition from more experienced plasterers to win third place with his freestyle work being a real talking point.
On Jack's short listing tutor Liam Buckley commented: "I could not have asked any more of Jack, he gave his all and managed to finish all tasks. The standard was very high, which makes his achievement even more remarkable, to see off challengers in an open age competition when Jack is only a first year apprentice. He truly will be one of the stars of our profession in the future."
