Students at Liverpool Hope University are being offered vaccinations against meningitis after a second case of the infection was confirmed. An 18-year old student is being treated in hospital and is said to be recovering well. It follows the death earlier this month of Alisha Bartolini, who was also 18 and living at the same halls of residence.

Public Health England have said:

"Health protection experts from Public Health England are working with staff and students at Liverpool Hope University after a second confirmed case of meningococcal infection at the same halls of residence. An 18-year-old student is currently being treated in hospital and is recovering well."

Liverpool Hope University said they will ensure that all staff and students 'receive the appropriate support, reassurance and advice'.
